The Ashland New Plays Festival in Ashland, Oregon has created a new initiative designed to give exposure to talented playwrights, and to give artistic teams at theatres a chance to experience the power of a new play in a more convenient medium: as a podcast. Natalie Symons' original play was chosen to be among the first titles recorded.

SCHOONY'S HOME FOR GIRLS AND JOHN
Natalie Symons' original play was inspired by the photography of Kate T. Parker in her book, STRONG IS THE NEW PRETTY. Natalie was commissioned by Florida Studio Theatre in Sarasota, FL to work in collaboration with instructor Christine Hopkins and the young women in her Perform A Play class. The performance took place on April 6, 2018 in FST's Keating Theatre.

Natalie Symons named Playwright-in-Residence for American Stage 2018-2019 Season
"St. Pete playwright Natalie Symons will develop a new play in collaboration with American Stage leadership and artists. Beginning with a series of private readings with professional actors over the course of the season, the play will be presented to an audience in a staged reading and ultimately, through an American Stage workshop production."
